Thanks for stopping by! My name is Hayley, I am 24 yrs old and I live in the Illawarra with my husband Shane, and our two kids, Addison and Oliver. I have been blogging on and off for a few years, as a way to sort of keep track of some of the big milestones in our lives. As the years go by though, I’ve realised that the big things aren’t what make up a wonderful life and I’d like to get more serious about documenting the every day too!
Addison will be four in February, and Oliver just celebrated his very first birthday at the beginning of October. Oliver was born with a birth defect called Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula and Oesophagael Atresia (TOF+OA). It gave us the shock of our lives, we had no idea he was sick and even less of an idea exactly what that meant for his future. He spent his first few weeks of life in the NICU at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where he still visits every few weeks for follow up appointments and procedures. Over the past year, we’ve discovered he also has an airway defect called Tracheomalacia and a host of allergies that restrict his already limited diet, all while battling the constant and on-going health and nutritional issues associated with being born with an incomplete oesophagus. To say he is our little warrior would be an understatement, even through all this he wakes up every day with a smile and goes to bed with the giggles.
As a young couple Shane and I spent the first few years of our relationship moving, renovating, and building – chasing a beautiful house to call our own and raise our family, and we finally settled in our current house two days before Christmas, 2014. Though we have loved every minute of the journey, we are hanging for a change of pace and would love nothing more than to find our ‘forever home’ on some acreage here on the South Coast. A fixer upper would be the ultimate… something that we can pour our hearts into, creating a home that our family will love for generations. We haven’t found it yet, but we have our eyes peeled and I can’t wait until ‘the one’ pops up!
So, to new friends, hang around for some serious house inspiration, the highs and lows of juggling a family and work, and a pretty picture or two! And to old friends, thanks for sticking by me this long
